How long does it take to have a costume made?

Generally its best to allow 8 to 12 weeks from when you place the order to when you wish to receive it. Shorter timeframes are doable and can incur a rush fee, this is managed on a case by case bases.

Do I need a fitting in person?

No you don't, but if you are local or are happy to travel to Wellington (NZ) you are more than welcome to arrange a time for a fitting. All custom made costumes are made to measure, you receive a comprehensive measurement guide and form to fill out on confirmation of your order.

How do I take my own Measurements?

The best way to get accurate measurements is to get a friend with some experience or a local dressmaker to take them for you.
Sometimes this isn't possible so here are a few pointers for the best results. Use a dressmaking tape measure, always stand straight and natural. No sucking in! All horizontal measurements should be straight - ie: parallel to the ground. Bust, and hips are measured at their largest points, waist at its smallest. Its best to wear one light layer of clothing for measuring, hold the tape measure not too loose or too tight - just so that it snugly sits around tour body. If in doubt measure a few times and take an average.

How does the process work for custom designs?

What happens if I want a design change?

Accepted Answer

If you change your mind about what you want after we have agreed the design and started work on the costume the cost may also change but I will do my best to work with your new idea.

How much do costumes cost?

Custom made costumes start around $550 NZD ($370 USD).  If you are unsure how much your dream costume might cost or have any questions you can send me an email with a brief description of what you have in mind and we will get back to you with a rough estimate.

Question 7

Do I have to pay in advance?

Accepted Answer

Yes, a one off $150 NZD payment covers your consultation, research, design, revisions, and it also confirms your booking. Once your design is confirmed along with the final price estimate a 50% deposit is required.   The final payment is due once your costume is complete and ready to send.  Payment plans are available on request.

Can you make outfits for a group of people?

Yes! It may take a bit more time but let’s talk about what your group needs.

What fabrics do you use?

Best quality four way stretch spandex is used to create costumes that move with your body and moisture wicking. I can access a range of performance fabrics from my international suppliers for your costumes.

Do you ship overseas? (countries outside of New Zealand)

Yes, anywhere in the world! If you require fast shipping we can express courier using DHL, this is 3-5 days. Otherwise we send using economy tracked post which is working 10-15 days and is more budget friendly. If you would like to know the shipping prices to your country please ask.

What happens if my plans change?

You can cancel your custom order at any time, I understand that life happens but the deposit is nonrefundable.
